Thank you to all the Lincoln County Democrats who helped make the Neville dinner the success it was……THANK YOU!
The Lincoln County Democrats gathered on Saturday, April 26, 2008 for their annual Keith Neville Award Dinner. We had a great time. Lucas Atkinson received the 2008 Neville Award. Participants heard from Senate candidate Scott Kleeb and the 3rd Congressional district candidate Jay Stoddard was the keynote speaker for the evening. 60 Democrats from Lincoln County filled the hall at the Holiday Inn Express. Marc Kaschke, North Platte Mayoral candidate also greeted local Democrats.

This announcement from the Nebraska Democratic Party.
LINCOLN, Neb. – Audra Ostergard, Associate Chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party and member of the Democratic National Committee, publicly announced her support for Senator Barack Obama in the race for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
“I have carefully weighed input from Democrats across Nebraska and closely watched results from primaries and caucuses across the country,” said Ostergard. “There are compelling arguments for supporting both candidates, but my decision came down to what’s best for our country and for Nebraska. In that regard, I am confident in my decision to endorse Senator Obama. He has a proven ability to activate Democrats in Nebraska.”
“The gravity of this decision has weighed on me heavily,” Ostergard added. “I don’t want to use my position to influence the process, but at the same time I agree with Howard Dean that our party needs a nominee. Senator Obama’s prohibitive lead in pledged delegates was a major factor in my decision.”
Ostergard, 41, is a publishing representative in Lincoln. By virtue of her position as Associate Chair in the Nebraska Democratic Party, she is a member of the Democratic National Committee and therefore automatically a delegate to the Democratic Party’s National Convention in August.
All six of Nebraska’s Unpledged Party Leaders and Elected Official Delegates (also known as “superdelegates”) have now endorsed Senator Obama.
Local Democrats learned recently that along with Jay Stoddard, candidate for 3rd Congressional District, Scott Kleeb, candidate for the Senate from Nebraska will attend the Neville Award Dinner. The 2008 Keith Neville Award Dinner will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Holiday Inn Express. The social hour starts at 5:30 pm with dinner at 6:30 pm. The menu includes a prime rib and chicken buffet and costs $35 a person or $65 a couple. For tickets contact the Lincoln County Democrats at info@lincolncountydems.org.
This event will include an auction of select presidential memorabilia from 1930s to 2000. Lucus Atkinson will be honored as the 2008 Keith Neville Award recipient. Join other Lincoln County Democrats and talk with the candidates at the Keith Neville Award Dinner and Auction. See you at the dinner.
The New Nebraska Network has an interview with Scott Kleeb. Find the interview here.
During the interview NNN 2.0 asked:
Towards the end of your race in 2006, you started attracting considerable attention and support through national blogs. That seems to have carried over into this election, especially at DailyKos. How do you explain the online “Scott Kleeb” phenomenon?
(generous laughter}
I think politics has changed. I think that…blogs like the New Nebraska Network…whether they’re national or local blogs, it allows people to get engaged in the political process. It allows for our race for instance in the Third District – you here in Lincoln and…Ryan up in Omaha – you guys could have an impact on that race. You could educate people about what we were talking about. You could participate in that race. That’s wonderful….
More people are getting engaged and the Internet has allowed that to happen…Small-D democracy is thriving as a result of the new media outlets such as the New Nebraska Network….
Our first half last year was asking people to come to our website and tell us what you think. Tell us what you want. We want you to be a part of this campaign. This isn’t about me. This is about us and what we can accomplish together. And, if we can inspire each other to make the changes that we all know need to be made, then that’s wonderful and our campaign is a tremendous success. To have more people get engaged in politics is terrific.
