RE: McCook meeting June 6

RE: McCook meeting June 6

Please attend this meeting if at all possible. We need you.

The 3rd District Organization has been in existence for a couple years without bylaws or delineated goals and responsibilities. We need to find ways to strengthen county parties, develop leaders, recruit candidates for public office, and improve communication within and without the district. We can overcome our traditional handicap of isolation and distance by means of the internet. I have some ideas to present at the June 6 meeting, which you can accept, improve, or replace, but nothing can be done unless we have a substantial representation of 3rd District counties. Our next meeting may not be until fall, so we will go more months without action unless we have a good turnout next Saturday. Let’s add to the election successes of Omaha, Lincoln, and Obama. Thanks. SCC meeting and 3rd CD CAucus

September 4th, 2008 Don Comments off
This weekend is the SCC meeting and our first 3rd CD Caucus meeting (11AM).
  • Please bring your thoughts on using technology for regional meetings.
  • Bring along anyone you think will want to participate in committees, or at least their names. Preferably, people who wanted a more active role in the party, but didn’t get elected as SCC members. We would like to bring in more people in active roles and not have a few holding many positions.
  • If there are any SCC positions open, please be prepared to provide that information and nominate someone to fill that role.
This will not be a long meeting as there really isn’t much to cover for the caucus. I got many ideas of discussion, but they were clearly CDO topics. At this time, I’m looking at a meeting right after the election, and will solidify a date as we get closer.
Remember the lunch, starting at 11:30AM, and I look forward to seeing you all there!

Chair, 3rd Congressional District

Email from Obama

August 18th, 2008 Don Comments off

As you may have heard, 10 supporters will be joining me backstage before I accept the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

I’m pleased to announce that those supporters have been selected, and I wanted to tell you a little about them.

The people who make up our movement are of all different ages, races, and backgrounds — and these folks are no different.

Lenny is a former naval officer from Emerald Isle, NC. Barb is a teacher married to a farmer in Fallon, MT. James is a law student in Massillon, OH. And Anne is a retired budget analyst from Indianapolis.

John from Boulder, CO, believes developing alternative energy is the answer to an array of policy problems. And Kayla from West Fargo, ND, didn’t feel like she could ever be part of the political process — until now.

They each bring their own unique perspectives and experience, and they are united by their hunger for change.

You can read more about these amazing people below. I’m looking forward to meeting them at the Open Convention, and I hope you will join us in sharing this important moment.

If you cannot make it to Denver, you can get together with your friends and family and watch my acceptance speech at a Convention Watch Party. It’s going to be a big night, and you can join millions of supporters across the country to make it a success.

Sign up to host or attend a Convention Watch Party in your community on Thursday, August 28th:

Thank you for your belief in our ability to bring real change to this country. You continue to grow and strengthen our movement in ways no one thought possible.

A Letter from Lisa Hannah

July 14th, 2008 Don Comments off

Fellow Democrats……

I first want to thank everyone for their support. This is an incredible time to be a Democrat and we have so much we can do to make our state and country a better place.

Now, let me give you a little bit of information about myself, and what I hope we can achieve together over the next couple of years.

I had always been interested in politics, but up until a couple years ago, that involvement tended to center around an occasional small donation to a candidate, and arguing with other political junkies on internet forums. But, I have to credit President George W. Bush with finally convincing me to get active. Of course, Adrian Smith, and his horrible campaigns ads about how evil Democrats were, helped even more. I walked into Scott Kleeb’s campaign office and began volunteering. Soon after, I was given the responsibility of providing research to the campaign, and I helped to get people recruited to write letters to the editor on Scott’s behalf during the last weeks.
